Traditionally, Batumi is considered the resort capital of Georgia and it is here that most beach fans who have come to the country from abroad prefer to stay. The townspeople themselves favor the surroundings more and when asked where to go from Batumi to sunbathe and swim in the clear sea, they can answer differently:

  • There are almost no attractions in Kobuleti, but this resort is always full of tourists during the beach season. One of the oldest in the country, it has a well-developed infrastructure, which is especially suitable for outdoor activities. Karaoke and nightclubs, gyms and many cafes - even the most advanced young people do not get bored in Kobuleti. You can get from Batumi by minibus in 40 minutes and 2 GEL or by taxi for 25-30 GEL.
  • In the village of Chakvi, not far from Kobuleti, young people will be a little bored, but older tourists will surely like it. Elite hotels, clean, quiet beaches and an ideal climate attract wealthy guests here.
  • The main attraction of Mtsvane-Kontskhi is the botanical garden. When choosing a place to go from Batumi for an excursion, pay attention to this resort. By the way, garden workers willingly rent rooms right on its territory.
  • Situated on the border with Turkey, the picturesque beach in the village of Sapri is particularly clean, and the resort itself is high prices. It is not very profitable to live here, but it is worth coming to sunbathe from Batumi for one day - travel by minibus will cost only a few lari.

To the legends of deep antiquity

The Gonio-Apsaros fortress once served as a Roman outpost on the territory of modern Adjara. It is separated from Batumi by only 15 km, which can be easily overcome by bus route 101.

The fortress was first mentioned in the writings of Pliny the Younger in the 1st century AD. A hippodrome and an amphitheater were also built here, the aqueduct is perfectly preserved, and the main legend of the fortress is the possible burial of the Apostle Matthew in it.

After enjoying a walk along one of the oldest Georgian sights, tourists usually drop by the local beaches. If you are traveling in a rented car, it will not be difficult to drive a little over 10 km north of the fortress to swim on one of the best Black Sea beaches.

In the flow of a mountain river

If you are accustomed to traveling on your own and are deciding where to go from Batumi to breathe in the clean mountain air, take any route taxi going to Keda at the bus station. After 30 km you will meet the most beautiful waterfall in Adjara.

The waters of Makhuntseti rush with a noisy stream from a height of 20 meters and form a small pool at the foot. Nearby there are gazebos for rest and there is a source of drinking water, so near Makhuntseti you can organize a picnic in nature.

Not far from the waterfall, there is a stone bridge over a mountain river, built in the 11th century and renovated in 2008, from which you can admire amazing views of the surrounding landscapes.
