Description of the attraction
Lenkom Theater - The Moscow Lenin Komsomol Theater was founded in 1927. It was initiated by the Central Committee of the Komsomol. Until 1938, the theater was called the Central Theater of Working Youth (TRAM). The theater actors worked at enterprises during the day, and in the evening they did what they loved - they played on stage. Time has shown that this idea is not viable. Very soon TRAM turned into a real, professional theater.
In 1938, the name "Lenin Komsomol Moscow Theater" appeared on the building of the theater. The building of the theater on Malaya Dmitrovka was built in 1907 by the architect Ivanov-Shits. Before the revolution, it housed the "Merchant Club". It hosted musical and dramatic performances, which were attended by patrons, aristocrats, industrialists and many famous cultural figures. The head of the Lenin Komsomol Theater known for the Moscow Art Theater - 2, Ivan Bersenev. He brought with him the brilliant actors of the Moscow Art Theater: Serafima Birman, Rostislav Plyatt, Sofya Giatsintova.
Under Ivan Bersenev, the theater ranked among the best theaters in the country. The plays in which Bersenev played the main roles: Nora (Ibsen), The Living Corpse (Tolstoy), Cyrano de Bergerac (Rostand), went down in the history of the theater. Two months before the start of the Great Patriotic War, Bersenev staged the play "A guy from our city" based on Simonov. The heroes of the play already lived with a premonition of war. The theater found "its own" playwright for many years, and the playwright - "its own theater". In 1944, the play "So it will be" was staged based on the play by Simonov. The main role in the play was played by the audience's favorite - Valentina Serova.
In 1951, Bersenev died. For many years the theater was left without a leader. In 1963, Anatoly Efros came to the theater. He stayed in the theater for three years. The ideologists of that time thought his creative quests were too bold. Efros was removed from the post of chief director in 1967. But in the troupe remained, who came with Efros, the most beautiful actors: Anna Dmitrieva, Olga Yakovleva, Valentin Gaft, Alexander Zbruev, Lev Kruglov, Lev Durov, Vsevolod Larionov. The old-timers also remained in the troupe of the theater: Pelevin, Giatsintova, Vovsi, Solovyova.
Since 1973, the artistic director of "Lenkom" is M. A. Zakharov. In 1974, the theater staged the famous play "Thiel" based on Charles de Coster. The play lasted 14 years on the theater stage. The next production by M. Zakharov, a milestone performance in the history of the theater, was the rock opera The Star and Death of Joaquin Murieta by composer A. Rybnikov and poet P. Grushko. This was followed by the staging of the play - an event, bright and romantic, exciting, dazzling and deafening - "Juno and Perhaps". The stage life of the performance has been going on for over twenty years.
Today the theater is called the Moscow State Theater Lenkom. It is a state, budgetary cultural institution of the city of Moscow.
