Description of the attraction
California Lighthouse rises near Arashi Beach in the northwestern part of the island of Aruba. This structure got its name in memory of the steamer "California", which crashed nearby during the catastrophe on September 23, 1891.
Originally designed to alert ships to the approaching coastline of Aruba, California Lighthouse is now one of the most visited tourist destinations in Aruba. It attracts visitors with the opportunity to admire the spectacular landscape of the island.
The stone structure, built in 1910, is located on a seaside elevation, offering beautiful views of the west coast with sandy and rocky coral beaches and the beautiful landscaped Tierra del Sol golf course from the observation deck, and herds can be seen south of the lighthouse wild goats.
Nearby California Lighthouse are sand dunes suitable for families or a dreamy stroll along the secluded coastline. At any time of the day or night, a panorama opens up from a height for 360-degree viewing, but at sunset the picture is most picturesque. The building of the lighthouse was under reconstruction until May 2016. Nearby there is a restaurant, a spa hotel and a golf club.
