Description of the attraction
Patenga Beach is located about twenty kilometers from Chittagong and close to major attractions and infrastructure, including Shah Amanat International Airport and Isha Khan Naval Base.
It starts from the mouth of the Karnaphuli River and stretches to the Bay of Bengal. Suppliers from the city flock to the beach to sell a variety of ice cream, soft drinks and treats (the signature dish is clay-baked crabs) for the hundreds of Bangladeshi visitors who come to Patenga Beach.
The beach itself is long, sandy, with small rocky patches in various places. Many visitors come to Patenga Beach to watch the stunning sunsets and sunrises. Boat cruises on the Karnaphuli River or on the ocean waves are offered to those who wish. Nature lovers will encounter many wading bird species at Patenga Beach.
If there are too many people on Patenga, lovers of a quiet holiday can move to the nearby quiet beach, which is its continuation. Here, under the huge spreading palm trees, next to the boats of fishermen, the locals go about their daily activities, and at sea, seagulls patiently circle overhead in anticipation of some kind of treat. This is the perfect place for a relaxing picnic.
