Description of the attraction
The famous Shchudrovskaya tent is an ancient civil brick building located in the city of Ivanovo, which is a true symbol of the city. It was built in the 17th century.
The Shchudrovskaya tent stands in the very center of the city on the street called August 10, which is next to the Revolution Square. This object is part of the Museum of History and Local Lore, named after D. G. Burylin, being his department.
Initially, the building was built in the tract of a small stream Klokuy as an ordering rural hut in Ivanovo. Inside the building there are two rooms, one of which is large and the other is smaller. In a large room in storage there was a large number of notebooks, in which the registration of the quitrent, which was collected from the peasants, was recorded. In a small room was the office of the clerk of the Cherkassk princes, who owned the village at that time.
A curb runs in the area between the ground floor and the basement. Window openings are equipped with carved platbands decorated with keeled ends. The southern facade of the tent is colorfully highlighted, which makes it possible to assume that it was he who was the main one. Today this structure is considered unique, because it has no analogues in the adjacent areas.
In the last years of the 18th - early 19th century, the owner of the tent was a rich peasant, as well as an industrialist and merchant Osip Shchudrov. It was this man who completed two more floors, after which he organized a printed shop here, where the pattern was applied to the fabric base.
In 1964, in accordance with the adopted decision, the repair and restoration work of the Shchudrovskaya tent began to be carried out as a historical monument for the purpose of returning it to its original appearance. The end of the restoration work took place in 1988. As a result of the work carried out, the building of the chamber lost the upper floor, after which the roof had to be re-installed.
It should be noted that the Shchudrovskaya tent became the first stone structure in the village of Ivanovo, which has survived to this day from the end of the 17th century. Today, the Shchudrovskaya tent looks almost the same as it looked in the first years of its existence, only the initial decoration of the tent is not so bright and colorful. But, despite this, the restorers and builders achieved their goal, finishing and restoring the building according to the traditional principles and features of classicism that prevailed in the 17th century.
The famous local historian and doctor of philosophical sciences of the city of Ivanovo Mikhail Yurievich Timofeev wrote a whole article devoted to the description of the Shchudrovskaya tent. According to Mikhail Yuryevich, the house belongs to remakes, because it has already been radically rebuilt. But this fact does not prevent it from being ranked among the unique creations of art and architecture of federal importance.
