Description of the attraction
The magnificent beaches of the picturesque Greek island of Naxos and the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea attract more and more fans of traditional beach holidays every year. One of the best and most popular beaches on the island of Naxos is the excellent sandy beach of Agios Prokopios. This beach is also included in the list of “best beaches in Greece”.
Agios Prokopios beach is located on the west coast of the island in a bay, well protected from strong northerly winds, about 5 km from the island's capital - the city of Naxos (Chora) and 2.5-3 km from the airport.
Agios Prokopios is a beach with soft golden sand and very small stones. The length of the beach is about 1.5 km. Once there was the old port of Naxos, which was actively used by pirates, and then by the Turks. At the end of the beach you will find a small church of St. Prokop, after which this place actually got its name.
Today Agios Prokopios is a popular beach center in Naxos with excellent infrastructure. Part of the beach is beautifully organized and offers bars and cafes where you can refresh and eat, sun loungers and sun umbrellas for rent, and a variety of water sports. In the vicinity of Agios Prokopios you will find many cozy hotels, comfortable apartments and rooms for rent, as well as restaurants, taverns, shops, markets, pharmacy, laundry and much more.
You can get to the beach by public transport (regular bus service with Khora), by taxi or by a rented car. Next to the beach of Agios Prokopios there is another popular beach of the island - Agia Anna.
