Description of the attraction
Padang Galak Beach is located in the northern part of Sanur Beach, which is quite famous in Bali and is one of the favorite and visited places by tourists.
Sanur is known all over the world, and it was from him that tourism in Bali began to develop. Sanur is easy to get to and famous attractions such as Badung Traditional Market, Bali Art Center, Bali Museum are located near the beach. Sanur Beach is close to famous surfing spots such as Matahari Terbit, Segara Beach, Keramas Beach and Padang Galak.
The name Padang Galak in translation sounds like "wild lands", it is famous for its waves and is ideal for surfers. This beach is visited not only by local surfers, but also by foreign tourists who love strong and big waves. The best season for surfing on Padang Galak Beach is considered to be when the wind blows from the southwest to the east, which contributes to the formation of large and strong waves. Usually it is recommended to come in January-February, or from September to December. It is also believed that Padang Galak Beach is more suitable for beginners in surfing, as there are no reefs there. There are both left and right waves here. The spot is, in principle, not crowded, most of the skiers are local residents.
In July, every year, there is a kite festival on the beach. It is worth noting that Balinese kites are huge, sometimes reaching 10 meters in length and 4 meters in width. This festival is religious in nature and is dedicated to Hindu deities that they want to appease. It is believed that if the deities are supportive, there will be a bountiful harvest. Teams from villages located near Denpasar compete. Each team has from 70 to 80 people, each team has its own gamelan orchestra, responsible for the flag and for the kite. The snake is usually carried by 10 or more people. Snakes come in the form of fish (the largest kite), bird and leaf-shaped.
