Description of the attraction
The Wills Memorial Building (Wills Memorial Tower or simply the Wills Tower) is located in the city of Bristol in the UK. This is the third tallest building in the city, its height is 68 meters.
On the belfry of the tower hangs the Big George bell - one of the largest bells in England.
The tower was built from 1915 to 1925 and is one of the last buildings to be built in England in the neo-Gothic style. The tower is part of the University of Bristol complex - and its trademark, its symbol. Now the tower houses two educational faculties, a library, and all solemn ceremonies are held in the Main Hall.
The tower was funded by the Wils family of tobacco industrialists, in memory of Henry Overton Wills III, industrialist, philanthropist and first honorary head of the university.
