Description of the attraction
The first stone church on the site of an old settlement was built in just three years - in 1558-1561. It was a five-tent temple on a high basement. The church suffered greatly during the Time of Troubles and decayed. In 1803, the cathedral was completely rebuilt, one might say - rebuilt.
At the present one-domed church, a beautiful attic attracts attention, against which the pediments of the four-column porticoes of the Tuscan order are very expressive. The church has two cold side-chapels: Pokrovsky and Mitrofanovsky. Nearby there is a three-tiered bell tower built in 1827.
