Description of the attraction

The Puppet Theater in Burgas has established itself as one of the leading collectives in Bulgaria. The performances that the masters present to the audience are diverse both in genre and content, and in terms of the puppet control system (puppet, tablet, cane, etc.)

A professional collective of puppeteers appeared in Burgas in 1954, and by 1962 the theater received the status of a state cultural institution. On the stage of the theater, performances based on folklore works, as well as works by national and foreign authors were played. In addition to Europe, the Burgas Puppet Theater has toured Asia, Africa, and the United States. The collective has repeatedly received various awards at theatrical festivals.

For 60 years, the city puppet theater has staged more than 250 performances, many of which were also presented in at least 10 thousand in total in front of 3 million spectators.

The modern repertoire of the theater includes about 20 performances, the repertoire is replenished with 4-5 premieres every season. The puppet theater is equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment. The theater team consists of two hundred people, including not only creative workers and actors, but also technical and service personnel.

The theater director is a holder of a diploma personally issued by the Minister of Culture in 2002 for his invaluable contribution to the activities and development of the theatrical art in Bulgaria. This is evidenced by a memorial plaque on the theater building.

The theater received the next award in 2006, when it became the owner of the award for exceptional financial and artistic achievements. In 2012, the theater staff took part in the International Puppet Theater Festival in Plovdiv, where it received another award from the hands of the children's jury for the Tumba Lumba show.
