Description of the attraction

The Brest Puppet Theater was founded in 1963, its first performances took place within the walls of the Brest Theater of Drama and Music under the direction of director A. Seregin. Only in 1968 a separate building was allocated to the puppet theater.

In 1975, director A. Shkilenok came to the Brest Puppet Theater. Since that moment, the theatrical repertoire has undergone significant changes. He acquired a bright individuality, turning to national drama and staging performances by such authors as N. Matyash, V. Yagovdik, N. Tulupova, I. Sidoruk.

Since 1996, the Brest Puppet Theater, together with the Brest Theater of Drama and Music, has been hosting theater groups from all over the world to the Belaya Vezha festival, which unites contests of drama and puppet theaters. This is one of the most prestigious theater festivals in the countries of the former USSR.

The Brest Puppet Theater became one of the first puppet theaters that went on tour abroad, with which the European theater audience met. The first tour took place in Germany in 1993.
