Description of the attraction
The National Aviation Museum was inaugurated by King Harald V of Norway in 1994. It is located on the main road of the city of Bodø and has the original form of a huge propeller with an area of 10,000 square meters.
The museum consists of two exhibition halls, which contain exhibits of civil and military aviation, as well as reproductions of drawings of aircraft belonging to Leonardo da Vinci himself.
Climbing the Control Tower, you will have a magnificent view of the city and the airport. The main task of the museum is to conduct research work on the preservation and transfer of historical knowledge about Norwegian aviation.
The museum exhibits many well-known aircraft models. Moreover, visitors have the opportunity to hear a story about the history of civil aviation, which begins at the beginning of the 20th century. The first attempt to transport mail by air was made in Norway, and passenger flights were opened in 1935. The military exposition focuses on the history of the Norwegian Air Force, World War II and the post-war period, as well as the modern air defense system.
The National Aviation Museum has a unique simulator and the Gidsken Café, named after the first female pilot.
