Description of the attraction

The Central House of Aviation and Cosmonautics is located on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street. The decision to create an aviation museum was made in November 1924, at the All-Union meeting of the ODVF. The museum was named the Central Air Museum of the Society of Friends of the Air Force of the USSR. Now it is TsDAiK - the Central House of Aviation and Cosmonautics of the DOSAAF of Russia. For the museum, a building was allocated, built at the beginning of the twentieth century, which is an architectural monument.

A. I Rykov, Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars, and P. I. Barinov, Chief of the Air Force of the Red Army, took an active part in the creation of the museum. Various public and state figures also helped to create the museum. In 1925 - 1926. the museum building was thoroughly renovated. A huge amount of work was done to collect exhibits and create museum expositions. In the economically difficult post-revolutionary years, this required enthusiasm, courage and tremendous work from the creators.

The Frunze Central Air Chemical Museum (as the TsDAiK was originally named) was opened in January 1927. The museum had only four departments: aviation and aeronautics, socio-historical, chemical and agricultural. A scientific and technical library, a cinema lecture hall, a photo library and a workshop for making model models were opened at the museum. Since 1958, the museum has been called the Central House of Aviation and Cosmonautics of the USSR DOSAAF.

In 1987 the museum was closed for renovation. The museum building is badly dilapidated. All expositions were dismantled. The nineties had a negative impact on the museum and the collection of exhibits. Some of them were lost, some were badly damaged. Thanks to the leadership of DOSAAF Russia, the funds necessary for the museum were found. A new management was appointed, the staff of the museum was renewed. In November 1994, the first renovated exposition of the museum was opened.

Today the museum exposition consists of nine rooms. Museum staff are busy preparing for the opening of the Memorial Office of the first cosmonaut on Earth Yu. A. Gagarin. The museum's collection includes about 36 thousand exhibits.

The exposition begins with stands dedicated to the history of aviation and astronautics, mock-ups and models of aircraft from the first Mozhaisky aircraft to the supersonic aircraft carriers of our time. The museum contains a large collection of aircraft engines from piston engines to modern turbojet engines. The museum's exposition contains full-scale exhibits: an aircraft machine gun from the times of the war in Spain, an aircraft cannon for the MIG-31. simulator of the cabin of the spacecraft "Buran".

CDAiK is a cultural institution, museum, information and historical-scientific center. He promotes the achievements of Russian astronautics and aviation. The museum collects exhibits and stocks. Samples of space and aviation technology are stored. The museum prepares various scientific, historical and reference materials; work is underway on military-patriotic education and vocational guidance of young people.
