The state of the transport system in Kazakhstan is very similar to the situation in many post-Soviet countries. The roads in Kazakhstan are not of the best quality, only the main highways are in good condition. In addition, the mountainous terrain does not allow the construction of high-quality roads. Funding from the budget for the development of transport infrastructure is practically zero, investors also do not want to invest their funds in Kazakhstan. In recent years, the government has been trying to build new roads and repair old ones. But this is done at the expense of foreign loans, which does not have a very favorable effect on the state of the economy.

Kazakhstan has repeatedly asked for help from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in order to obtain a loan. He motivated his issuance by the fact that new overpasses with developed countries would be built on the money received, with the main emphasis on China. According to the calculations of the Kazakh government, the cost of the construction of the road "West Kazakhstan" - "West China" should be recouped literally in 7-8 years, and it should serve for at least 25 years, based on the warranty period.

The state planned to recoup the costs at the expense of the road toll for travel from foreign cars. At the same time, the cost of travel on toll roads in Kazakhstan is one of the cheapest in comparison with other countries. Its average price is 1 tenge per kilometer. At the same time, other countries charge approximately 17 tenge for the same distance. Therefore, the construction of new roads will have a beneficial effect both on Kazakhstan itself and on those who want to deliver goods from China to their state, paving the way through Kazakhstan.

Futuristic roads of Kazakhstan

Futuristic roads are planned to be built in Holland in the coming years, but Kazakhstan is also interested in such an idea and it is possible that similar types of highways will appear here soon. The advantages of the new roads are as follows:

  • the basis for the manufacture is plastic, which is much more durable in operation than asphalt;
  • it is easy to install, so it will take much less time to build roads;
  • resistant to temperature fluctuations (from 40 degrees of frost to 80 degrees of heat);
  • poorly influenced by chemical reagents;
  • in addition, it is beneficial for the environment, since such a plastic for roads will be made from production waste;
  • the road surface will include an air gap, which will allow maintaining a certain temperature on the surface of the route, laying the necessary cables inside, up to the water supply.

Road classification

Each road in Kazakhstan has its own index. It consists of numbers, which are determined depending on the region through which the road passes, and letters. The letter corresponds to the class of the road:

  • M - international overpasses.
  • A - roads connecting administrative and cultural centers.
  • K - local roads;
  • P - all others.

Despite the fact that the roads of Kazakhstan are far from perfect, the government is trying to solve this problem and with careful thought and implementation is likely to do so.
