Description of the attraction
Kerry is a county in the southwestern part of Ireland, known for its turbulent centuries-old history, stunning natural landscapes, incredible landscapes and many interesting sights.
You can learn more about the history of the county by visiting the entertaining Museum of County Kerry in Tralee (administrative center of Kerry). The museum is located along Danny Street in the Ashe Memorial Hall in the heart of the city, so you can easily find it.
The County Kerry Museum was founded in 1992 with the aim of collecting, studying and preserving the cultural heritage of County Kerry, as well as popularizing this knowledge among the younger generation. To this end, the management of the museum has organized a wide range of educational programs for children of different ages in the format of excursions, as well as interactive seminars and tours. However, the museum provides various events, thematic lectures and seminars for adults.
The excellent collection of the museum has about four thousand exhibits (various archaeological finds, weapons, tools, garments, historical documents, etc.), perfectly illustrating the development of the history and culture of the county, as well as the life and traditions of its inhabitants, starting from the Bronze Age and until the end of the 20th century. The theme park undoubtedly deserves special attention - an impressive, elaborate to the smallest detail, reconstruction of Tralee from the middle of the 15th century. The photo exhibition, which will introduce you to Tralee of the 1950-1970s, is also very interesting, as well as an exhibition dedicated to the Antarctic expeditions of the native of the village of Annaskaul (Dingle Peninsula, Kerry), the famous British navigator Tom Crean, who went down in history as the Irish Giant.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the County Kerry Museum regularly hosts various temporary exhibitions.
