In 2006, one of the beautiful resort cities of Crimea acquired a new heraldic symbol. If we carefully consider the coat of arms of Simferopol, we can note that it contains historical symbols, and the composition itself is built according to the classical canons of European heraldry.
Description of the Simferopol coat of arms
It is clear that the heraldic symbol of this Crimean city would hardly have been able to do without the azure color. Indeed, on the emblem of Simferopol there is not only heraldic azure, but also its shades.
In addition to this color, associated with the endless firmament, there are other colors of the palette, including scarlet, emerald, gold, brown. Since the team of authors created the coat of arms, there is a feeling that each of the artists proposed their favorite tones and shades, and everyone else agreed.
In a color photo, such a heraldic symbol looks bright and rich. But it is also good in monochrome, because it has a complex composition with many symbolic elements. The main elements on the emblem of Simferopol are:
- a shield, divided by a wavy silver stripe into two unequal fields;
- a part of the fortress wall and a windbreak, crowning the shield;
- a lush wreath of oak branches with framed acorns;
- azure ribbon with the inscription - the name of the city.
Symbols of elements of the coat of arms
The shield itself has a complex structure, a golden edging along the edge and a silver wavy line dividing it into two fields. The wave symbolizes not the sea, as some ignorant of geography might think, but the Salgir River, which is considered the main waterway of the Crimean peninsula.
In the upper azure field there is an image of a golden bee, this symbol has several meanings. Firstly, it acts as a symbol of hard work, harmony, collectivism, and secondly, some artists consider this insect an ideal, the embodiment of beauty.
The lower scarlet field is decorated with a golden bowl, which is shaped like antique vessels. In this case, both the color of the field and the bowl itself are symbolic. Scarlet is traditionally associated with the courage and valor of the ancient Scythians who defended their main city. The antique vessel reminds of the beautiful legend of the founding of the city by the Scythians, of its ancient history.
A tower crown is placed above the shield - a symbol of the citizens' readiness to defend their small homeland. An oak wreath with fruits speaks of longevity, fertility and wealth.
