Almost 230 years separate the first coat of arms of Omsk and the last main symbol of the city, approved in April 2014. At the same time, looking at the two heraldic signs of this beautiful Russian city, you can play the children's game "Find the Differences". This suggests that Omsk residents honor their traditions, strive to remember the lessons of history and pass them on to their children.

Description of the heraldic symbol of Omsk

Of all the coats of arms of Russian cities, the official symbol of Omsk is probably one of the most complex in composition. In addition, for its elements, not only colors that are popular in heraldry were chosen, but also rather rare tones, and, more importantly, shades. We can say that the coat of arms resembles a drawing of a child who likes the whole color palette, and therefore cannot stop using new and new colors.

The composition of the heraldic symbol of this regional center is built according to the rules of European traditions, contains the following elements:

  • French-shaped shield in the center;
  • two shield holders (a rather rare case in Russian practice);
  • tower gold crown, complemented by a gold laurel wreath;
  • framed blue ribbon;
  • green base and silver ribbon with the motto.

Each of the presented elements can be decomposed into smaller elements.

Craftsmanship in detail

In general, the main official symbol of Omsk can be viewed endlessly, while finding new, interesting details and symbols. For example, a shield, for which silver and azure colors are used. The central place on the shield is occupied by a brick line, which symbolizes the military fortifications.

The framed ribbon has the same color as the ribbon of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, which was awarded to the city. Naturally, it could not have been on the coat of arms of the city in the pre-revolutionary period. Then, a wreath of oak branches was depicted in a frame, complemented by an Andreevskaya ribbon.

Support holders from the Omsk coat of arms require a special description, they turn out well on color photos. The figure of a Cossack dressed in the outfit of Catherine's times, armed with a musket and a saber, was chosen for the image on the heraldic symbol. He is accompanied by a fusilier, a hero of the time of Peter the Great, with a baguette, the so-called prototype of a bayonet.

The silver ribbon with the motto reminds of the first decades of the city's existence, which was built as a fortress to defend the eastern borders. In addition, the ribbon wraps around golden trophies, experts will tell you that the authors of the sketch presented halberds and cannon barrels as trophies.
