The Theater of the Young Spectator in Omsk is one of the most favorite places for cultural recreation in the city. The Omsk Theater, better known as the Omsk Youth Theater (theater for youth children), was founded in 1937. The initiators of its creation were city children's and youth organizations with the support of teachers and artists.
The opening of the Youth Theater took place in May 1937 in the Lobkov club. The first performance was titled "To Be Continued …". Among the first actors of the theater was V. Ya. Dvorzhetsky. During the war, performances on the stage of the Theater of the Young Spectator were staged by the famous Russian director and actor N. P. Okhlopkov, who was evacuated in Omsk.
The theater began touring in 1954. The performances of the Omsk Youth Theater were first seen in Anzhero-Sudzhensk, then in Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk and Dnepropetrovsk. A little later the troupe of the theater visited Yalta, Evpatoria and Feodosia.
In 1966, the local authorities allocated a plot of land for the construction of the theater. In 1967 he received his own building, which is still located today. For almost seven decades of fruitful work on the stage of the Theater of the Young Spectator in Omsk, more than 400 performances have been staged.
