- How to get to Jurmala from Riga
The popular Latvian resort of Jurmala on the Baltic Sea consists of a number of small villages, stretching along the edge of the surf for 32 km. This city bears little resemblance to fashionable beach resorts. Rather, it can be called a cozy dacha sector, where connoisseurs of the cleanest air and the harsh northern sea with white beaches bounded by century-old pines come from year to year. Having visited Jurmala once, you strive to return here by all means.
For those who are just planning their vacation in Latvia, it will be useful to find out how to get to Jurmala in the shortest possible time.
By plane to Riga
You can get to Latvia in different ways. The easiest way to do this is by plane. Jurmala does not have its own airport, so all tourists arrive in Riga, and only then go to the coast by public transport.
The flight from Moscow to Riga takes 1 hour and 45 minutes. Direct flights between these cities are operated by planes of four airlines: Aeroflot, Air Baltic, UTair and Rusline. For the convenience of passengers, the planes depart from three airports in the capital: Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo. Average ticket prices range from € 111 (budget option) to € 153. The cheapest flight is offered by Rusline. There shouldn't be any difficulties when purchasing tickets, since up to 8 planes leave for Riga during the day.
You can also fly to the capital of Lithuania with a transfer. Then the time spent on the road increases to at least 3.5 hours. You can pick up some pretty interesting flight options:
- Belavia aircraft depart from Domodedovo and dock in Minsk;
- Finnair offers a connection in Helsinki. Departure - from Sheremetyevo;
- Air Baltic transport flies through Vilnius, Tallinn, Warsaw and Helsinki, etc.
Only Air Baltic offers flights from St. Petersburg to Riga without connecting.

You can also get to Riga by train. This way of travel is suitable for those who want to significantly save on tickets. After all, the cheapest ticket for the Moscow-Riga branded train, which departs daily from the Rizhsky railway station, is approximately 43 euros in a shared carriage. A seat in a compartment will cost 120 euros. Passengers spend about 16 hours on the way. The train leaves Moscow at 17:05 and arrives in Riga at 09:17.
The train as a mode of transport can be recommended for those who do not want to pay for excess baggage at the airport or simply do not like to fly.
For only 50 euros you can get to Riga by the Ecolines bus, which departs from the Tushinskaya bus station at 20:45 and in the morning arrives at the bus station of the capital of Lithuania. The journey will take about 13 hours and 30 minutes. The buses are quite comfortable and convenient with the Internet, multimedia screens and a buffet.
