- French-shaped shield;
- tower crown crowning the structure;
- supporters in the form of Russian knights on green grass;
- ribbons of Soviet orders in the frame.
All versions of the city's heraldic sign are equally valid, used in certain cases, in official documents and symbols.
Description of the coat of arms
The central element of the composition is a shield, horizontally divided into two unequal parts, painted in gold and scarlet colors. In the upper gold part there is an image of a black two-headed eagle, which is associated with the coat of arms of Russia.
In the lower, scarlet field, you can see a mountain of golden boulders on which an overturned jug of silver lies. Water is poured from the vessel, also shown in silver. This symbol appeared in 1781, the water flowing from the jug was associated with the Voronezh River, on which the city stands.
The shield is crowned with a crown, in which the outlines of the fortress tower are guessed. The precious headdress has five teeth and is complemented by a golden laurel wreath, which has been associated with victory since ancient Greece.
Knight shield holders deserve special attention. They are spelled out in sufficient detail, you can consider not only large, but also small details of their clothing. The heroes are dressed in silver chain mail, helmets with aventail, scarlet cloaks. One of them is armed with a golden sword, which reminds of the readiness of the townspeople to repulse any enemy. The second knight holds in his hands an old almond-shaped shield with the emblem of the regimental banner. This part of the coat of arms can be interpreted as the readiness of the residents of Voronezh to defend their homeland, their city.
Warriors stand on a green foundation, which speaks of confidence, the desire for stability, prosperity and wealth. In general, the coat of arms of Voronezh uses a fairly large number of colors, including shades of precious metals - silver and gold.
