In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the national currency is the Convertible mark (Konvertibilna marka), short for KM or BAM. These names originated from the marks of German origin and Fening, to which the currency was originally pegged at a 1: 1 ratio. In two regions of the country - the Bosnian Federation and the Republika Srpska, there are completely different banknotes in circulation, with the exception of 200-mark denominations, produced in the same style, but with different designs. For this period, coins in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50 fenings, 1, 2 and 5 marks are used in circulation. Fening coins were issued on December 9, 1998, except for 5 fenings, which were issued on January 5, 2006. During this period, banknotes in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 marks are used in circulation. Since March 31, 2003, banknotes with a denomination of 50 fenings have been withdrawn. From March 1, 2009, 1 mark was withdrawn from circulation and from March 31, 2010, 5 marks were withdrawn. All banknotes are printed in Paris, except for 200 stamps, they were printed in Vienna.
