Description of the attraction

The Cathedral of the Life-Giving Trinity in the city of Novosibirsk is a functioning Orthodox church and one of the most iconic city attractions. The construction of the temple began in 1999, and ended only in 2008.

The Novosibirsk Cathedral is a cross-domed, six-pillar, three-domed church with six thrones. It has two levels. The lower church was consecrated in honor of the Holy Trinity, and the upper one - in the name of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir. The total height of the cathedral, including the upper point of the cross, is about 60 m. The capacity of the temple is 1,500 people.

In May 2002, Patriarch Alexei II signed a charter concerning the foundation of the upper church, the Trinity Cathedral. In the summer of 2002, the foundation was poured. In June 2005, the consecration of the cross, installed on the main dome of the cathedral, took place. In 2006, crosses also appeared on four small domes. A year later, the bells for the belfry were cast using donated funds from parishioners. In June 2008, just on the City Day, a solemn consecration of the lower church in the name of the Holy Trinity took place.

During that year, a substantial amount of construction work was carried out in the Cathedral of the Life-Giving Trinity. Thanks to the financial support of the city and regional authorities, finishing work in the administrative building was completed, the second floor of the fraternal building was settled, the territory of the temple was landscaped, a fence with wrought iron bars, wickets and gates was installed.

In August 2013, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia performed the rite of consecration of the upper church in the name of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir.
