Description of the attraction

In one of the towns of the province of Ribagosa, located in the Aragon Pyrenees, there is an amazing church dedicated to St. Mary - the Church of Santuario de Torresiudad. The church is located in a picturesque place on the banks of the Sinka River. This is a fairly young temple structure, built by the architect Eliodoro Dols between 1970 and 1975. The modern temple is distinguished by its original architecture and large-scale dimensions. Inside the temple, 500 people can be at the same time. During the construction of the temple, materials were used that remained after many destroyed ancient buildings scattered across the territory of Aragon. The walls of the temple are predominantly lined with pink stone, which was turned by hand.

Choirs, crypts with four chapels and 40 confessions are located on two floors of the temple. The main altar of the temple was made by the Catalan sculptor Juan Meine Torras. The altar is decorated with scenes from the life of the Holy Virgin Mary, and in one of the niches there is a figure of Our Lady of Torresiudad, revered in Spain. One of the chapels, located on the second floor, houses a magnificent bronze statue of Jesus Christ, created by the Italian painter and sculptor Pasquale Ciancalepore.

An organ with more than 4 thousand pipes has been installed in the church building, and an organ music festival is held in the church building every August. Also, concerts and other cultural events are held in the premises of the temple.
