Description of the attraction

The Divorce Museum, otherwise called the Museum of Broken Relationships, is located in the capital of Croatia - Zagreb. This unusual museum displays evidence of broken relationships and lost love. In 2011, the Divorce Museum was named European Museum of the Year and received the Kenneth Hudson Special Prize.

The founders of the museum are the artists Olinka Vishtica and her former partner Drazen Grabisic, who decided to keep the evidence of their relationship, their happy moments in one specific place. Gradually, the collection of the museum was replenished with exhibits provided by other former couples. All exhibits symbolizing a break in relations or former love between two people were sent from different parts of the world, including the most distant ones. Often the exhibits have a tragicomic character and represent unrealized joint dreams, desires, as well as "proofs" and vows of sincere love. Each exhibit in the Divorce Museum has an annotation, written in Croatian and English, which tells the story of this testimony.

Since August 2007, the museum collection has participated in a traveling exhibition that has visited the following countries: Macedonia, Serbia, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, South Africa and the United States. In November 2010, the museum moved to Zagreb.

The museum has a café where you can relax after visiting the exhibition.
