Description of the attraction
On August 27, 1998, the first in Russia and in the world municipal museum of the history of Russian vodka was opened in Uglich. The Uglich land is the birthplace of Pyotr Arsenievich Smirnov, the famous "vodka king" of Russia. He is the founder of P. A. Smirnov "in Moscow near the Pig-iron Bridge (1860), supplier of the Vysochaishy Dvor since 1866. Uglich is also associated with the name of his uncle - Grigory Alekseevich Smirnov, a serf of the Skripitsyn nobles, who in 1835 laid the foundation for the inn and hotel business in Uglich.
The exposition of the museum presents antiques: pots, moonshine stills, the first mechanized machine for bottling wine products, an original exhibition of old bottles, vodka of the Soviet period, labels, old dishes, gifts - vodkas from different countries of the world, cities of the CIS. Alcoholic products of 96 distilleries in Russia are presented - more than 1000 varieties of vodka.
The main purpose of the opening of the museum is to present in its exposition all varieties of vodka produced by distilleries in Russia. Museum "History of Russian Vodka" has a tasting room "Russian hut".
