Description of the attraction
One of the most recognized cultural centers of the city of Vologda is the House of the Actor. It is in this place that numerous theatrical meetings, actors' evenings, popular "skits" and other various events take place that unite all figures of theatrical culture.
The opening of the Vologda acting house took place in 1989 as a cultural institution of the Union of Theater Workers of Russia at the Vologda branch. In 1992, due to a lack of funds, the Secretariat of the STD of the Russian Federation liquidated the provincial Houses of Actors as independent legal entities, and also transferred them to the account of the regional branches of the STD of the Russian Federation and made a self-financing transfer.
Even in spite of such difficult and unpredictable financial conditions, the House of Actor in Vologda not only did not suspend its creative activity, but also carried out its expansion with confident steps. To a greater extent, this was the merit of the chairman of the Vologda branch of the STD of the Russian Federation, as well as the People's Artist of the Russian Federation and Honorary Citizen of the city of Vologda Alexey Vasilyevich Semenov. This man was the real "owner" of the Actor's House, whose creativity and authority, as well as friendly and benevolent support, became the backbone of almost all of his undertakings, which the House of Actor is so proud of today. In the summer of 2001, an extraordinary election conference was held at the Vologda branch of the STD of the Russian Federation; it was unanimously decided to assign the name of A. V. Semenova.
The Vologda Actor's House is a traditional venue for various kinds of creative events that unite theatrical figures of the city of Vologda. In this place, the Veterans Club operates, actors evenings, children's matinees and many other holidays dedicated to workers of city theaters and their families are held. In this building, "cabbage" performances are born, which the Vologda artists are proud of and for which they have the prestigious awards of the theatrical skits festival in Nizhny Novgorod. It was here that reviews of acting independent works were held, performances-laureates were sent to participate in the International Festival of Chamber Performances "Lambushka" in the city of Petrozavodsk, as well as in the "School of Contemporary Theater" located in Shchelykova, where they constantly received prizes from the jury. In addition, creative conferences, meetings with musicians, actors, poets, acting classes in stage disciplines, premieres of performances by amateur groups, archival and art exhibitions are held in the Actor's House. In the building of the Actors' House there is also a specialized library dedicated to art.
During 1993-2001, the Actor's House housed a press center, as well as an information center for the famous "Voices of History" festival. Conferences, organizing committees, jury sessions were held here. In 2003, in the courtyard of the Actors' House, a specialized summer playground was arranged, and since that time, every day Actor's evenings at the International Theater Festival "Voices of History" are held in this place. The rather original programs of such evenings, as well as the unique atmosphere of the festival itself, created by the talented artists of Vologda, have literally become a legend in the Russian theater industry.
In addition to professional creative, leisure and social events for STD employees, as well as employees and veterans of the Vologda theaters, the Actors' House hosts charity and paid cultural and educational events for the residents of the city of Vologda. Musicians perform here, present their performances by the Chamber Drama Theater, a cabaret theater called "ArtRepriz" and "Own Theater" under the direction of Vsevolod Chubenko.
Since 2003, during each summer, a project called "Summer Engagement" has been held on the Summer Stage of the Actors' House, in which artists represent the laureates of not only Russian, but also international performing festivals. Lilia Shaikhitdinova, Vadim Zhuk, Ivan Zamotaev, the Master-class duet and many others performed here.
