Park of Culture and Leisure named after A. Shcherbakova is a park located in the city of Donetsk, located in the Voroshilovsky district. In the east, it borders on Universitetskaya Street, in the south - on Stadionnaya Street, on the west side of the park there is the Shakhtar Stadium, and on the north - the Second City Pond.
This park began its work in 1932. It houses a large number of children's attractions, children's playgrounds, walkways and various other recreation areas. The park was named in honor of the secretary of the party of the Donetsk regional committee in 1938 - Alexander Sergeevich Shcherbakov. Although the original name of the park was completely different. The park was named after Postyshev Pavel Petrovich, but after it was repressed, the park was renamed.
Today the area of the park is about 100 hectares. The First City Pond is located on its territory, the area of which today occupies about 32 hectares. A modern boat station is located on its western bank. A pedestrian bridge stretches across the entire pond, which is 330 m long and 6 m wide.
In 2006 the park was completely renovated. The pond, which is located in the park, was cleaned and the embankment was completely fortified. And in 2008 wrought iron gazebos were installed here, and a rose garden with roses of various varieties was set up. Also, on the embankment near the pond, a statue of an antique girl was installed, who holds a jug in her hands. And in 2008, for the City Day and Miner's Day, 46 wood sculptures were installed in the park, which depicted fairy-tale characters. Also in 2008, a golden figure of the "Kind Angel of the World" was installed in the park, which is an international symbol of patronage.
Today, the park has a lot of entertainment for a pleasant pastime, both for adults and children.
