Description of the attraction
The Yuri Gagarin Park of Culture and Leisure is a popular recreation area for residents of Zhitomir. The park with a total area of 36 hectares, thanks to its beauty, has long become the hallmark of the city.
Zhytomyr Park of Culture and Leisure was founded in the 19th century by the famous explorer and patron of Volyn - Baron Ivan Maksimilianovich De Shoduar. One of the most beautiful corners of Zhitomir is located on the steep and picturesque slopes of the Teterev River. In front of the entrance to the park, there are wonderful cascades of fountains, and on its territory there are shady alleys with exotic plants from Europe, India and North America. The most interesting specimen is the gingko tree.
Observation platforms are located right behind the central entrance to the park, from which beautiful views open. Steps with platforms for vacationers lead to the Teterev River, and on its bank there is a boat station with a special berth on which boats and catamarans are moored.
One of the main attractions and adornments of the park is a 350 m long suspension pedestrian bridge, laid across the Teterev River. Wonderful panoramas open from the bridge. In addition to the bridge, the special attention of visitors to the park is attracted by the bronze sculpture of the goddess of the hunt, Artemis, preserved from the time of Baron I. M.
Today, the Yuri Gagarin Park of Culture and Leisure is a favorite place for recreation and walks. For children in the park there are wonderful playgrounds with various colorful attractions.
