One of the most interesting countries of the Old World for a traveler, Germany can offer absolutely any program for a vacation or weekend. Here you can play sports or just cheer on your favorite football team, have fun shopping, send a companion to taste the famous German beer, or go all-out at Christmas markets and festivals. The architectural sights of the region of Germany are also fraught with a lot, and therefore you can come to this country again and again and never cease to be amazed at the diversity of its cultural, historical and gastronomic heritage.

Repeating the alphabet

The federal state consists of 16 subjects, which are absolutely equal with each other and are called lands. All regions of Germany are divided into districts, and the cities of Hamburg and Berlin, which also have the status of federal states, are divided into districts. Then follow communities, communes, townships, neighborhoods, residential areas and so on ad infinitum, according to the true German pedantry and a tendency to organize everything. The modern division into regions of Germany was finally formed in 1990 after the unification of the Federal Republic of Germany, the German Democratic Republic and West Berlin.

The southernmost states of Germany are Bavaria with the capital Munich and Baden-Württemberg. In the north, the country's borders are formed by Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The smallest territory is in the Saarland, and the largest is in Bavaria.

Familiar strangers

Coming to Germany and not missing anything of value during one vacation or vacation is not a real task. Every land here can offer such a rich excursion that travelers are simply lost in their choice and do not know where to start:

  • The Brandenburg region of Germany is famous for the city of Potsdam, where they decided to include the entire cultural landscape in the UNESCO World Heritage List, because they could not give preference to individual sites. The palaces and parks of Sanssouci, Babelsberg and others are now an integral part of a tour of the north-east of the country.
  • Bavaria and Munich do not need advertising at all. It is here that the best beer is brewed, the football club beloved by many plays and there are castles and palaces that are the pride of the architectural heritage of the world scale.
  • The land of Hesse and Frankfurt am Main is a paradise for museum lovers. The annual Festival of the Museum Quay at the end of summer attracts millions of tourists on the banks of the Main.
