The situation with the administrative-territorial structure of Georgia is not too simple. Legally, the country includes two autonomous republics - Abkhazia and Adjara - and ten territorial formations, called territories, including the city of Tbilisi. In fact, the Georgian territory of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia is controlled by the Republic of Abkhazia, which is partially recognized. Some regions of Georgia are partially controlled by the state of South Ossetia, whose international status also remains controversial.

However, the ambiguity of the state's administrative map is the only difficulty that the guests of Georgia will have to face. Its rich cultural heritage and legendary cordiality and hospitality were not influenced in any way by political and territorial inconsistencies.

Repeating the alphabet

Kakheti and Imereti, Adjara and Mtskheta - these names of the regions of Georgia evoke only the warmest feelings in the memory of anyone who has been there. The city of Rustavi is the administrative center of one of the southernmost provinces, famous for its national team, which has a long creative history. For 35 years, the Georgian State Academic Ensemble "Rustavi" has given more than three thousand concerts in 50 countries of the world.

Known since the 1st century BC. Telavi is located in the Alazani Valley and in the Middle Ages served as the capital of the Kakhetian kingdom. Mimino was filmed here, and the 800-year-old plane tree is called one of the main attractions of the city.

In the vicinity of Kutaisi

Pilgrimage tours to Georgia are one of the important and popular destinations of the local tourism industry. Ancient monasteries are concentrated here, each of which is of considerable historical and cultural value. In the Imereti region of Georgia, near Kutaisi, the Gelati Monastery of the Mother of God, founded by King David the Builder at the very beginning of the 12th century, rises on a hill. The mosaics of the temple are still considered the best in the Transcaucasus, and the portraits of the crowned persons are striking in their careful study of details.

On a beach vacation

The main sea gate of the country is the city of Batumi in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. This region of Georgia is distinguished by a mild subtropical climate, and therefore serves as a place for traditional beach holidays for both residents of the country and foreign travelers. Many specialty Georgian dishes come from Adjara, for example, Adjarian khachapuri - has long become the hallmark of this region.
