Latvia is famous for its amber, medieval castles where theatrical performances are held, modern resorts, the Baltic coast, lakes, and mineral springs. Moreover, this country attracts the attention of tourists and the opportunity to visit the waterfalls of Latvia.
Waterfall on the Venta river
The height of Ventas Rumba varies within 1, 6-2, 2 m, and its width is 100-110 m (in high water this figure increases to 280 m). In the rapids of this waterfall there are special fishing trays - once upon a time they used a special invention to catch fish: vimbats and salmon went against the stream and “jumped” into installed baskets (now there is no salmon in the river, but there is still vimba). In April-May one can witness an unusual sight here - how fish are trying to "jump" over the waterfall.
In summer, Ventas Rumba is popular with bathing enthusiasts, however, only the right bank of the river is suitable for this purpose: here you can swim in natural “baths” under water jets (they say that local water procedures are no worse than hydromassage sessions in spa centers). Alternatively, travelers are advised to grab a bite to eat at the small restaurant overlooking the river.
Alekshupitsky waterfall
The waterfall (height - 4 m, width - 8 m) is formed by the Alekshupite river. You can get close to it only from above (there is a bridge over it; here you can also see a mill dam), and descending to the water in order to admire the water streams from the bottom point will be a rather difficult task.
Abavas Rumba
The jets of this 1-1, 5-meter waterfall (it formed on the Abava River), 30-35 m wide, spread along small ledges. Abavas Rumba is in demand among fans of active and extreme recreation: in high water (spring), when its stream flows at a speed of 3 m / s, those wishing to join extreme sports gather at the waterfall.
Tourists will find a camping nearby, which provides guests with good service: boats are rented in the camping, on which they will be able to swim very close to Abavas Rumba; those who wish are involved in festive events with the organization of competitions and games for the whole family, as well as summer balls in the meadow.
Ivandian waterfalls
These include two waterfalls, 2 m high (9-11 m wide) and 1.5 m (3 m wide), on the Ivande River - they are 200 m apart from each other. Tourists will take tourists to the “main” Ivandian waterfall a paved wooden path (it starts from the bus stop). To get close to the second waterfall, you need to use the bridge across the river, and then walk a little along the bank of the opposite side.
