Description of the attraction
The Museum-Estate "Petrovskoe" is an ancient family estate of the ancestors of the great poet A. S. Pushkin - Hannibalov, which is associated with the extraordinary interest and respect of the Russian poet for the historical development of his kind, the history of his Fatherland, which are reflected in his work.
In the middle of 1742, the palace lands belonging to the Mikhailovskaya Bay, located in the Voronetsky district of the Pskov province, were given by Empress Elizabeth Petrovna to the great-grandfather of Alexander Sergeevich - Hannibal Abram Petrovich, who was an associate and godson of Emperor Peter the Great.
Initially, for his arrangement, Abram Petrovich stopped at the choice of a small village called Kuchane, which later received the name of the village of Petrovskoye; it was here that he decided to build a small house, which, after years, began to be called “the house of A. P. Hannibal.
According to the documents, in 1782 the Petrovskoye estate was inherited by Hannibal Pyotr Abramovich, who was Pushkin's great-uncle. In this house, Peter Abramovich lived from 1782 to 1819, without leaving his estate. During this period, a manor house was built, striking in its large size. It was during this period that the estate acquired its appearance, which will later be found by Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. The poet often met with his great-uncle and was interested in the history of his famous family, which was inextricably linked with the history of our state.
In the period 1822-1839, the family estate was owned by the poet's cousin Hannibal Veniamin Petrovich, and after his death Petrovskoye passed into the hands of a landowner named Kompanion, and then inherited by her own daughter K. F. Knyazhevich. For the most part, the new owners managed to preserve the inherent layout of the estate. In 1918 the estate was engulfed in fire - Petrovskoe was burnt down.
In 1936, the family estate was assigned to the Pushkin Reserve. In 1952, a thorough archaeological investigation of the estate was carried out. A little later, a project was created to restore the manor house, while all the dimensions of the house and the foundation were agreed, the data on which were taken according to photographs of the facade of the house, dating back to the beginning of the 20th century.
In the summer of 1977, a grand opening of the museum took place in the Petrovskoye estate, which included not only “the house of P. A. Hannibal”, but also a memorial park with a small gazebo. In the period from 1999 to 2000, restoration work was carried out in the estate, concerning the reconstruction of the estate museum. As a result of the work, the appearance of the estate has undergone significant changes. It should be noted that the former “house of A. P. Hannibal”, erected on the old foundation.
Nowadays, interesting excursions are held in the estate museum, one of which begins in the reception room of a large house. Here you can see the will left by Hannibal A. P., the plan of his possessions, photographs of the estate. The office contains many documents, books, tools and even weapons from the 18th century.
The furnishings of the living room are fully consistent with the period 1820-1830; it remained the same that it was under Benjamin Petrovich. Here you can also see the famous grand piano on which the porcelain vase still stands.
In the house of Abram Petrovich Hannibal you can see truly unique things: an 18th century oak dining table, copper, glass, ceramic, wooden dishes, clay pipes and various children's toys.
Acquaintance with Petrovsky Park begins with a green terrace located right in front of the main facade of V. P. and P. A. Hannibals. There is a beautiful linden alley in the park, which played the role of protective walls in its green decoration. At the very end of the alley there is the so-called "green office", in which Pyotr Abramovich loved to spend his time so much. A small alley of dwarf lime trees smoothly turns into the "blossoming hall". Nearby there is a grotto gazebo, from which a wonderful view of the nearby surrounding places opens: Savkina Gorka, Mikhailovskoye.
