Description of the attraction

Vacationers in the town of Pertschach on Lake Wörthersee can use a specially designed trail that passes by the most famous local villas, which amaze the imagination with their architecture. A map with 54 marked objects can be taken from all tourist offices in the towns near Lake Wörthersee.

All villas were built between 1864 and 1938 in the so-called Wörthersee style. Castles, villas, boat sheds, bathing houses built around the lake are in perfect condition. Many villas are now being converted into hotels. Others are privately owned and are still used as summer residences. An interesting three-storey villa Edelweiss resembles an English country house in its design. Its basement is lined with light-colored stone, while the upper one is upholstered with wooden vertical slats. Villa Edelweiss with an area of 320 square meters was erected in 1909 on Hauptstrasse by the famous architect Franz Baumgartner, who designed summer houses for the Austrian nobility. A three-storey house with five living rooms was built for the Semmelrock-Werser family. Interestingly, the original furniture and Italian statues in the garden have survived to this day.

The main portal is designed in the form of an arch, as are several windows on the first and second floors. There is also an attic space in the building. The elegant palace with a bay window, an open balcony and several chimneys is privately owned, so it will be problematic to enter its territory.
