Description of the attraction

Bangkok Planetarium is the oldest in all of Thailand. It is located on the basis of the Scientific and Educational Center under the auspices of the Department of Non-Formal Education from the Ministry of Education.

The construction of the planetarium began in 1962 with a budget of 12 million baht and was opened on 18 August 1964. The planetarium dome is 20.6 meters in diameter and 13 meters high and has 450 seats. The planetarium uses a Mark IV Zeiss projector, which was also used for the largest planetarium in Southeast Asia.

In addition to the main space, the Bangkok Planetarium includes an exhibition hall designed for a young audience. It hosts thematic meetings on the history of space exploration "Astronomy over the centuries", as well as on the topics "Life of the stars" and "Solar system". The Planetarium offers 4 entertainment programs per day for children and adults. Each of them includes two sections: showing the stars through telescopes, as well as a slideshow with a lecture, the subject of which changes every month. Meetings with schoolchildren are held separately as part of the educational program.

Together with the planetarium, there is a science museum that houses its collection of exhibits on six floors. It traces the history of human development in terms of technology and innovation.
