Description of the attraction
Planetarium Negara is a landmark of Kuala Lumpur Lake Park and a major educational center. It is located on a high hill and is visible from almost all points of the capital.
On the territory of the national planetarium there is an entertaining park of ancient observatories, a small copy of Stonehenge and a sundial. And also the office of the National Space Agency. A very beautiful staircase leads to the planetarium, framed by dense greenery of trees, with a water cascade flowing down on its sides.
The planetarium building resembles a mosque, thanks to the spherical roof in bright blue. And its main entrance is decorated in the form of a space portal. It leads to a series of galleries and halls with static and interactive displays. You can see the mock-up of the satellite, the recreated interior of the orbiting space station. There is a rover robot that moves along the layout of the red planet. A robot is also used as a guide, which will guide you around the planetarium. In the space cinema, documentaries, a space science show, and even space-themed blockbusters are shown on a hemispherical screen throughout the day.
The planetarium was opened in 1993 and became the embodiment of the state principle of creating a free educational and developmental environment for children. For example, the planetarium has a chemistry room where you can study them in entertaining ways. The periodic table is designed in the form of a huge cellular rack, the cells contain objects from the surrounding life, corresponding to chemical elements: fluorine - toothpaste, chlorine - bleach, etc. There is a game with food according to the same principle: you choose a chemical element - food items are designated, where there is a lot of it. Potassium - bananas, calcium - a glass of milk, etc.
In the physics room, the visuals are even more interesting. You can study radio waves, experiment with lightning. That is why there are so many schoolchildren in the planetarium, some even do their homework here. Fortunately, the entrance is free. The planetarium is a great place to get acquainted with the structure of the Universe, the history of space exploration, astronomy and other natural sciences.
And from its rooftop observatory, you can admire the Lake Park and the views of the capital.
