Description of the attraction
The Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Akademgorodok is one of the cult sights of the city of Novosibirsk. The church, together with the Parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is an integral part of the temple complex, which is located in a place where previously you could only see a swampy edge on the outskirts of the forest. Today, on the shore of the lake, among the picturesque pine trees in the church fence, two temples have been built, surrounded by a living forest.
In December 1993, the future rector of the parish, Priest Sergiy Fedoseev, received a blessing from Archbishop Tikhon for the construction of the church. In January 1995, the construction of a wooden church began. The project of the temple was developed by the architect S. N. Kulba. In just eleven months, the church, with a capacity of about 150 people, was built. On January 6, 1996, the consecration of the throne took place, and on January 7, the first service took place in the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos.
In 1995, a Sunday school for children was opened in the parish, and in August 1999, the first class from the Orthodox gymnasium of Saints Cyril and Methodius appeared.
The laying of the stone church took place in 1996, just on the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos. The author of this project was the architect V. A. Ivanov. The capacity of the temple is about 600 people. In December 2001, on the day of St. Nicholas, Archbishop Tikhon performed a small consecration of the church in honor of the Holy Trinity, at the same time the first divine service took place.
The Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Akademgorodok is a brick cubic one-domed building topped with a hipped bell tower. The temple and all its decorations in the form of kokoshniks and ornamental decorations were made in the style of Russian architecture of the XIV-XV centuries.
