Description of the attraction

Located in one of the most popular resort areas in Cyprus - Ayia Napa, next to Nissi Beach, the Marine Life Museum is the only such museum on the entire island. His huge collection contains all the representatives of the flora and fauna of the Mediterranean Sea, and not only modern species. There you can also see the most ancient fish, animals and plants living in those waters several thousand years ago, the appearance of which was restored from the fossils. Thanks to this, visitors to the museum have the opportunity to see the inhabitants of the sea, which have long disappeared from the face of the Earth. The museum also houses paintings by local artists, items found on the seabed, including shipwreck gear, ceramics, and even works of art. In addition, one of the most interesting exhibits is a replica of the ancient Greek ship Kyrenia-Eleftheria, which sank off the coast of the island around the 4th century BC.

The museum opened its doors to visitors in June 1992. Under him, a marine park was also created, which will be of particular interest to children. There are wonderful performances with trained dolphins and sea lions.

In addition, the museum shows interesting scientific and documentary films that tell about the history of the island until the moment when people settled on its territory.

The main purpose of the creation of this museum was not only to acquaint visitors with the rich marine life and flora of Cyprus, but also to show how fragile nature is, and that it must be treated very carefully.
