Description of the attraction

The Muvita Science Center is located in the Arenzano hills, just above the main highway. It is housed in a huge yellow building, which the locals call Il Kazone - "Domische". The center was founded in memory of one of the largest environmental disasters in the history of Italy - the crash of the Haven tanker off the coast of Genoa in 1991, when about 150 thousand tons of oil got into the water. The main task of the created center was to disseminate information about the problems of environmental protection and the need to respect it, as well as to conduct a variety of environmental and educational events. It must be said that in the early 1990s it was the first center of its kind in all of Italy.

Today in "Movit" one can learn about the problems of climate change on the planet, about innovations in the field of "green" energy, as well as about the state of the world's ecosystems. The mission of the center is to create mutually beneficial relationships between man, nature and technology. In total, the museum has seven thematic exhibition areas that are dedicated to energy, climate, climate change and the Kyoto Protocol, conservation and rational use of energy, renewable energy, biomass and hydrogen. Educational events are regularly held here to raise awareness of these issues among residents and guests of Arenzano, and especially among children. Movita also houses a conference room, a library and a small laboratory for scientific research in the field of nature conservation.

In addition to Muvita, the Il Cazone building houses the administration of the Regional Park “Monte Beigua” and the administration of the Museum “Genoese Lighthouse”.
