Description of the attraction
The Yemen canyon and waterfall are located in the western part of the Tarnovo Upland, in the place where the Negovanka flows - a tributary of the Rositsa River. Here nature has formed a picturesque gorge known as the Yemen canyon. A natural rift surrounded by mountains reaching a height of 80-90 meters is located 5 km from the village of Emen.
There is a hiking trail on both sides of the opening. Wooden bridges and stairs installed in a number of places allow tourists to better get acquainted with the beauty of these places. From the top of the fifty-meter mountains surrounding the breach, there is a beautiful view of rocks, stone arches and niches, waterfalls, caves, etc. It is curious that on one side above the canyon there are the ruins of an ancient Roman fortress, and on the other - eagle's nests. At the end of the valley there is another natural attraction - the Momin skok waterfall. The stream of water noisily falls down from a height of ten meters, forming a beautiful pool below. The surrounding area is ideal for picnics with family and friends. Both the waterfall and the canyon itself were declared a natural monument on November 25, 1980 under the name "Negovanka River Canyon".
The rift begins at the very edge of the village of Emen and, together with the river and lake, stretches in a northeastern direction for two kilometers. The hiking trail starts at the entrance to the Emenskaya cave, the total length of which is 3113 meters. It ranks seventeenth in the list of the deepest caves in Bulgaria. After about three hours of walking along the trail, you will come to the village of Emen.
