Description of the attraction
Undredal Church is the smallest wooden church surviving in Norway: it can hold only 40 people. The church was built in 1147, as evidenced by the carved date on the ceiling, as the chapel of St. Nicholas, and it was transported from place to place several times, being reconstructed several times.
The church received its present appearance after reconstruction in 1722. The church ceiling is decorated with biblical characters and angels, and you can also see a beautiful medieval chandelier here. In 1962. The church was restored, as a result of which three layers of washed off paint made it possible to see ancient decorations - paintings of mythical animal signs and symbols.
The church is of great cultural value to Norway.
