Description of the attraction

The Fernando de Noronha archipelago consists of more than 20 volcanic islands. Only one of them is inhabited - the largest. The average temperature is around 28 degrees Celsius. The rainy season lasts from March to September.

Until the 19th century, the islands were covered with forests, but after a prison was built here, the forests began to be cut down and now a large area of the islands is covered with bushes. Recently, the government of Fernando de Noronha has drawn attention to this situation and planted a new forest in some areas.

In 2001, the archipelago was included in the UNESCO list of the Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The main reason is the great importance of the islands of the archipelago as a breeding ground for species such as marlin, sharks, tuna, cetaceans, sea turtles. An important role was played by the fact that dolphins live in large numbers off the coast of the archipelago.

Fernando de Noronha is one of the favorite places to visit for tourists from all over the world. Local authorities pay great attention to the development of eco-tourism. The island has a well-developed infrastructure: an airport, modern hotels, a large number of restaurants with seafood. The most popular national dish in the archipelago is shark pie. Cruises along the Brazilian coast are popular among tourists.

Fernando de Noronha is a very popular destination for surfers and diving enthusiasts. Thanks to the clear water and deep waters in the archipelago area, diving fans from all over the world come here every year. When diving to a depth of 25-40 meters, you can see all the beauty of the local flora and fauna. The Brazilian warship that sank off the coast of Fernando de Noronha in 1987 is very popular among professionals.

Here is the famous beach - Cacimba do Padre Beach. This is the most famous of all the beaches of the archipelago. There are always strong waves and it is perfect for surfing. Also from here you can watch the famous Morro Dois Irmans or the rocks of the Two Brothers. The Gulfinjos Bay is protected by the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Natural Resources. Translated "Golfinhos" means "Dolphin Bay". Swimming and boating are prohibited here. The bay serves as a refuge for spotted dolphins.
