Description of the attraction

Mount Schneehunerstock, its second name - Unghurstökli, is located in the East Urn Alps, located between the two Swiss cantons - Uri and Glarus. To the southeast of it is the famous Oberalppass Pass. The border of two communes - Gurtnellen and Andermatt - runs along one of the mountain ranges.

It should be noted that there is another mountain in Switzerland called Schneehunerstock. It is located near the commune of Erstfeld in the canton of Uri and is separated from its namesake by the Meiental Valley. Its height is 2945 meters above sea level. In the same canton there are two mountains called Schneehunerstöckli, one with a height of 2819 meters and the other - 2508 meters. This circumstance must be taken into account when planning climbing routes to one or another peak, otherwise it is not surprising to get lost among these mountains, which are between those three pines.

Antenna installations are currently located at the top of the Schneehunerstock Mountain and are accessed by a private cable car, which is closed to public access. But there is already talk that this cable car, once built by the military, will be dismantled, and in its place special mountain rails will be laid, along which a train, consisting of several cars, will deliver everyone to the top. These intentions coincide with the plans of the leadership of the commune of Andermatt, which intends to open one of the largest ski resorts in central Switzerland in the Andermatt-Sedrun region by 2017. There is everything for this - beautiful mountains, an abundance of snow, a hospitable local population, so there is only a little left to do.
