Spanish resorts are "brothers" and competitors at the same time, who would have thought that one of them even celebrates a holiday in honor of King Jaime I, who at one time conquered the island, which is now a rival. The eternal dispute - Salou or the island of Mallorca - today cannot be resolved in one direction or another. Each of them has its own permanent audience, which is aware of the merits and benefits of relaxation.

It is rather difficult to compare them, since Mallorca is a whole island, with its capital and small towns and villages. Salou is just one of the cities that are part of the Costa Dorada resort company. Let's try to compare the individual items that are important for the summer pastime.

Salou or Mallorca - who is better?

When asked which Spanish resort the guests from Russia love the most, the answer is unambiguous - Salou. On the "Gold Coast" of the Costa Dorada, this is one of the best cities; life does not stop here until mid-October. The main contingent is young people or parents with children, these are those tourists who are looking for good conditions at democratic prices. A water park and boulevard walks, a beach holiday and a large-scale cultural and entertainment event "Golden Nights" - memories will last for a long time.

In the nomination "Who is Better?" the victory, of course, remains with Mallorca, it cannot be otherwise, a small town will never catch up with the island resort, with its full list of beaches, monuments, beautiful places and attractions. In addition to spending time on the beach and contemplating the ideal seascapes, there is an opportunity to do almost any sport in Mallorca.

Spanish beaches

Little Salou surprises tourists in a big way - all (!) Of its beaches are under the Blue Flag, a symbol of cleanliness. The stunning seabed off the coast is clean, the water is clear, and there are no unpleasant animals like jellyfish. There are several city beaches, all of them are free, you will have to pay for special amenities. The main one is Levante, which stretches for more than a kilometer parallel to King Jaime I Boulevard. PortAventura, the most famous water park in the resort, is located on this beach.

Playa Ponente was originally (at the beginning of the twentieth century) intended for women; today both ladies and their companions calmly rest here. Llarga is the first in beauty among the beach areas of Salou, it is surrounded by a pine forest, and storks are its frequent guests.

Due to the popularity of Mallorca, not all beaches are clean, only the UNESCO Blue Flag flies over one in seven. But the variety of beach landscapes pleases - pines and oaks grow almost near the coast, there are sandy and pebble areas, rocky formations.

Resort purchases

Salou is not a shopping-dominant resort, with very few shops and no huge shopping malls. Favorite shopping place - Bazaar "Bonavista", which is open only on Sundays, bargaining is not appropriate, and this is the main difference between the market and Turkish or Egyptian. The most popular tourist purchases: jamon, the famous dry-cured ham; Catalan wine.

Mallorca is a better shopping destination than Salou. Most of the shops are located in the capital; boutiques offer good value for money. The most popular Major souvenirs are pearls, ceramics, glass, and wooden crafts.

sights

Interestingly, Salou is so compact that all of its attractions are located along the waterfront. If you choose the central beach for sun and sea baths, then the return to the hotel will be marked by a journey through the monuments of local history and culture. The main entertainment is walking along the boulevard, where there are magical illuminated sidewalks, which also "sing" in the evenings. In the "Bay of Chaplains", a place inaccessible from the coast, the Old Fortress is located. Built in the 16th century to protect against the Saracens, today it is used as a museum.

Like shopping, cultural holidays are best started in the capital of the island. There are many architectural masterpieces, places of worship, some of which Antoni Gaudi put his skillful hands on. You can continue your urban tour in other towns in Mallorca. In the resorts of this island, you can find interesting natural monuments, for example, the Dragon's Cave or Cape Formentor.

A simple comparison shows that there is a huge difference between the two representatives of the travel business. Although both of them belong to Spain, they differ in beaches, shopping, and a list of attractions. Salou is chosen by foreign guests who:

  • want peace and quiet;
  • adore the promenades along the embankments;
  • love jamon and Spanish wines.

Travelers will come to Mallorca who:

  • like to relax actively;
  • love water sports and entertainment;
  • prefer to contemplate ancient architecture.
