Description of the coat of arms of Dnepropetrovsk
For the shield, the Slavic form was chosen, that is, it has a rounded bottom. Interestingly, this form is widespread in Ukraine, in contrast to the coats of arms of Russian cities, where the overwhelming majority have a French shield.
The shield is completely painted in azure color, symbolizing courage, honor, military glory and valor. On the coat of arms of Dnepropetrovsk, it is also a reference to the water resources of the region (the Dnieper river basin), as well as the preservation of historical traditions - the color was present in the symbolism of the Cossacks, adorned the coat of arms of Yekaterinoslav.
Compositionally, the city's coat of arms includes several separate complexes:
- Slavic shield with important elements, stars, crossed saber and arrow;
- a wreath of golden oak branches decorated with colorful ribbons;
- decorative gold cartouche;
- urban tower crown.
Each of the elements has its own meaning, basic and symbolic, its own role on the heraldic sign of Dnepropetrovsk.
