One of the Russian regions is in a special position, firstly, it is located in the very west of the country, secondly, it is separated from its native state by foreign territories, and thirdly, the Baltic Sea plays an important role in the local economy. The coat of arms of the Kaliningrad region contains symbols that indicate both its geographical location and historical realities.

Description of the coat of arms of the region

The coat of arms of the Kaliningrad region is built according to the classical canons; it has the following important complexes traditionally present in the coats of arms of cities and regions:

  • a shield of a recognizable French shape with its own important elements;
  • framing in the form of a beautifully decorated order ribbon;
  • a precious crown that underlines the status of the Kaliningrad region as one of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

The coat of arms looks beautiful on color photos, since the authors used a rich gamut of colors and shades. There are colors traditional for European heraldry - azure, scarlet, silver, gold.

Symbols of elements of the coat of arms

The heraldic shield requires a special description, as it contains elements that are important. The shield is divided into two unequal parts, in the upper part of the scarlet color there is a fragment of the fortress wall made of bricks of heraldic silver color. The wall has two towers and an open gate in the form of an arch; this element acts as a symbol of friendliness and openness of the city for guests. Above the tower is a monogram in the form of a beautiful letter "E" and the Latin number "I", which are associated with the great Empress Elizabeth I.

The lower part of the coat of arms is painted in a deep azure color, it has a wavy end and five circles of gold color. It is clear at first glance that this element means the location of the region - on the Baltic coast, golden circles are like beacons signaling the earth.

There are two more important elements in the coat of arms of the Kaliningrad region. The ribbon will tell a knowledgeable person that the Russian region was once awarded the Order of Lenin, this award is complemented by a scarlet ribbon with a narrow gold edging.

Above the composition is crowned with an amber crown, this is an important clarification, since the region is famous for its amber and various decorations, crafts, souvenirs from this natural material. On the other hand, a precious headdress is a symbol of statehood.
