The resort town of Feodosia is located in the eastern part of the Crimean peninsula. It was founded on the shores of the Black Sea by Greek colonists, and reached its greatest prosperity during the period of its possession by Genoese merchants.
The ruins of the majestic fortress are one of the most important city attractions, but the favorite place for walks for both townspeople and vacationers is the Feodosia embankment. From here you can enjoy magnificent views of the Black Sea, and restaurants and cafes nearby invite you to spend a cozy evening after a day full of impressions of the beach.
Window to the world
The main attraction of the Feodosia embankment is the railway station building. The history of the appearance of the railway keeps many interesting facts and boasts the intervention of famous personalities. It began in 1892, when the Dzhankoy-Feodosiya line was opened, which became a certain guarantee of the further economic prosperity of the port city.
The rivals of Feodosia for the right to have a railway line were Odessa and Sevastopol, but the then Russian Emperor Alexander III, having made a strong-willed decision, made a choice in favor of the eastern part of Crimea.
The railway tracks are laid along the coast of the bay and you can watch the passing trains right from the city beaches. The station building is located at the intersection of the Feodosia embankment with Gorky Street.
By sea
Boat trips are very popular among city guests, which can be taken from the berths on the embankment:
- Tourist bureaus of the city offer to go on a ship along the Feodosiya Gulf and admire the views of the Crimea, opening from the sea. Swimming takes only an hour.
- It will take four hours for travelers who are going to make a sea excursion to the foot of the Karadag volcano.
In the summer, high-speed catamarans stop in Feodosia on the Yalta - Anapa route.
