The international summits of the SCO and BRICS, held in July 2015 in the capital of Bashkiria, became one of the reasons for the intensification of work on the construction of the embankment in Ufa. Previously, the bank of the Belaya River was unfortified and practically uncomfortable.
The project for the construction of the embankment was developed long before the international meetings in Bashkiria, but they were able to implement it only shortly before their start.
Unexpected gift
Residents of Ufa received a wonderful gift, which they have been waiting for for many years. The southern slope of the embankment was reinforced with tongue-and-groove piles, concrete slabs were laid and asphalted 1200 meters from the monument to Salavat Yulaev to the Yunost complex, turning the steep bank into a three-level embankment, which is pleasant to walk along at any time of the year.
The object required a complete reconstruction of the coast. The builders replaced the storm drain and installed lighting poles. Ladders and ramps for baby carriages have been built along the river.
The Ufa embankment has successfully blended into the city ensemble behind the Congress Hall.
A large observation deck allows you to see the panorama of the opposite bank of the Belaya River, and bike paths and pedestrian zones provide an opportunity to play their favorite sports for all fans of a healthy lifestyle in the capital of Bashkiria.
Four stages of construction
By the end of 2015, only the first stage of the embankment in Ufa was commissioned. There are three more stages in the plans of the builders:
- From the Yunost complex, construction will continue to the Friendship Monument.
- The third stage includes works up to Belskaya street.
- At the final stage, the Ufa embankment will continue in the opposite direction from the monument to Salavat Yulaev to the railway bridge over the Belaya River.
The total length of the embankment in the capital of Bashkiria upon completion of all works will be about five kilometers.
People's hero
The main attraction of the embankment in Ufa is the monument to the national hero of Bashkiria, Salavat Yulaev. The monument was erected on the high bank of the Belaya River in 1967. His image is even on the coat of arms of the republic, and the uniqueness of the structure lies in the fact that with a record weight of 40 tons, it has only three support points. The sculpture is almost 10 meters high.
Many residents of Ufa took part in the discussion of the project of the monument. In 1963, a plaster model was installed in the foyer of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater, after which, taking into account all the wishes and comments of the Ufa residents, the sculptor S. D. Tavasiev cast the final version from metal.
