The capital of Belarus invites guests to admire buildings and architectural forms - constructions of the 50s, walking along Independence Avenue, relax in one of the parks (the Chelyuskintsev Park deserves attention), spend leisure time in sports and entertainment centers.
Victory Monument
The 38-meter obelisk (at its base it is worth inspecting the high reliefs depicting scenes of the war period; decorative fir trees are planted around the monument), which is crowned with the image of the Order of Victory - this is not only a symbol of the Belarusian capital, but also a place where events in honor of the Victory are held, in particular, a wreath-laying ceremony attended by senior officials and veterans.
Church of Saints Simeon and Helena
Since red brick was used in the construction of the church, it was nicknamed “Red”. In architectural terms, the building is presented in the form of a five-aisled basilica with three towers (the core of the composition is a four-tiered tower, 50 m high). It is worth noting that next to the church you can see the sculptures of the Archangel Michael and the "Bell of Nagasaki" (erected in memory of the victims of the nuclear disaster).
Gates of Minsk
They are presented in the form of a complex of two 11-storey symmetrical buildings-towers, on one of which a clock “flaunts” (the diameter of the dial is 3.5 m), and on the other - a cast coat of arms.
Opera and Ballet Theatre
Theater visitors (the building is an example of constructivism) are delighted with theatrical and musical premieres (the repertoire is famous for performances in Belarusian and Russian). In addition to the presence of ballet and opera troupes, rehearsals of the children's theater studio, symphony orchestra and chorus are held here.
Town hall
The restoration of the City Hall began in the first years of the XXI century according to old drawings and historical documentary evidence. Today, visitors to the first floor will have a chance to visit the exposition hall (exhibitions are held here), where there is an architectural model with recreated historical central districts of Minsk, and guests of the second floor will walk through the hall, the purpose of which is to hold meetings and receptions. The park adjacent to the City Hall is also of interest to tourists - here you can walk along the alleys illuminated by lanterns and relax on the benches.
National Library
In the 73-storey building of the library, which is the symbol of Minsk, excursions are conducted with a visit to the observation deck on the 23rd floor. And from sunset to midnight, it is worth admiring the unusual illumination of the building (all kinds of patterns and drawings appear on the multicolored giant screen).
