Description of the attraction

Minsk Children's Railway. K. S. Zaslonova was built in the difficult post-war years. Its construction began in 1954. Not only adults, but also children took an active part in its construction. The opening took place on June 9, 1955.

The first railway in Belarus was built before the war in Gomel. Unfortunately, it was so badly destroyed during the Nazi occupation that it was not considered possible to restore it.

Initially, the Minsk ChRW was 3, 79 km long, then, with the opening of the Pionerskaya station, its length increased to 4.5 km. Now the Minsk Children's Railway has two stations: "Zaslonovo", "Pionerskaya" and one platform "Sosnovy Bor". The Children's Railway has its own crossings, overpasses and even a bridge across the river.

The first locomotive on the railroad was steam locomotive 159-232, which carried six wooden passenger carriages and one freight car. Since then, the rolling stock has been replenished several times with more modern steam locomotives and wagons. In 1975, steam locomotives were replaced by diesel locomotives, and the very first steam locomotive was turned into a monument.

In 1971, the children's railway in Minsk was awarded the title of the legendary heroic partisan and railway worker Konstantin Sergeevich Zaslonov, in connection with which it was decided to rename the main railway station of the children's railway from Park Kultury to Zaslonovo. The station building was designed by the architect Georgy Zaborsky.

The Minsk ChRW experienced hard times of perestroika and subsequent chaos not without losses. In 2008 it was renovated and reconstructed. Further reconstruction and construction of a new station are planned.

Minsk Children's Railway is not only an interesting attraction for children. This is the most important educational base for future railway workers, as well as an object of effective vocational guidance for schoolchildren. Over the years of the existence of the Minsk Children's Railway, many of its pupils have become railway workers.

The blue carriages of the Minsk Children's Railway run from May to September in the most beautiful suburbs of Minsk. Zaslonovo station is located in Minsk at the address: Nezavisimosti Avenue, 86 (not far from the Park Chelyuskintsev metro station).

It hosts fun children's parties and exciting excursions. On May 9, a special train "Victory Echelon" runs. On this day, young railroad workers dress in the uniform of the war years.
