Diving in Mexico is one of the most popular outdoor activities. On the territory of the country, there are two attractions at once, which are known to the entire world diving community - Socorro Island and Mexican cenotes. The coast of Yucatan, washed by the waters of the Caribbean Sea, is no less popular. The island of Cozumel and the Bay of Banderas are especially worth noting here.
Car Wash Cenote
This is the most popular cenote in the country, and makes it so surprisingly clear water and availability. Both professionals and beginners can admire the underwater beauty. When diving, it is recommended to wear protective suits, as the tetra, a very voracious freshwater predator, lives here. It is, of course, not large in size, but it has very sharp teeth that pose a real threat.
Cenote Sak Aktun
The maximum possible depth here is only 14 meters, and in combination with warm water (+24) Sak Aktun becomes just an ideal place for diving. The cenote, discovered in 1988, never ceases to amaze divers on the first dive - the entire space of the underwater cave is occupied by pillars, of which there are several thousand. Some of them are no different in volume from straws. The general system of Sak Aktun moves includes more than 500 transitions.
Cenote El Grande
This is, in fact, a once collapsed karst cavern of incredibly huge size and only its central part is completely flooded with water. The unique transparency of the water is especially surprising during the first dive, since even at a depth of 60 meters you can perfectly distinguish divers swimming near the surface.
The immersion takes place in an absolutely round hole, and the system of caverns itself is located far beyond the boundaries, which are able to illuminate the sun's rays.
Cozumel
It is here that the second largest coral reef is located, the total length of which is more than 700 kilometers. The famous Jacques-Yves Cousteau quite often shot interesting materials about the inhabitants of this coral kingdom. Excellent diving sites of Mexico are located here - these are the tunnels of Punta Sur and Santa Rosa, going deep into the reef, the Barracuda and Maracaibo Deep reef, the completely sheer walls of which descend to a depth of 50 meters. During dives, divers are always accompanied by the inhabitants of the depths.
Palancar reef
This is a huge and practically untouched by man reef, stretching for 5 kilometers. An incredible number of local inhabitants and magnificent coral gardens will please all lovers of underwater beauty. Both novice divers and already experienced masters can admire here without any problems.
